Walt Disney World is taking another step forward with artificial intelligence — the resort's AI overview search feature is now officially in Cast Member testing. The tool is designed to display an AI-generated summary of search results directly on DisneyWorld.com.

What Is the AI Overview?

The feature actually made a brief, unintended appearance for guests back in June, seemingly by mistake. At the time, it was labeled "Cast Preview" and wasn't fully operational, displaying only the message: "I'm still learning and don't have information on that topic right now, but I can help with most food and beverage questions."

Now, Cast Member testing has officially launched. Cast Members visiting DisneyWorld.com will be able to see the AI overview in action and provide feedback on the experience.

As for when guests might get their hands on it — that's still to be determined. Depending on how testing goes, the feature could roll out in the coming weeks or months, though Disney has not announced a specific timeline.

Disney's Broader AI Ambitions

This latest development fits into a much larger picture of Disney embracing artificial intelligence across the company. During the Q2 earnings report webcast, CEO Josh D'Amaro spoke openly about how AI is being used to enhance the guest experience:

"A Disney vacation means a lot to our fans, and we're using AI to reduce the complexities around planning and booking a trip and trying to make that whole experience specifically tailored to what our guests want most."

Disney has also been actively encouraging its employees to use AI tools more broadly. In March 2026, Walt Disney Imagineering was hiring an AI executive to lead the development of an "AI-first platform that will fundamentally change how Imagineering creates."

On the partnership front, Disney had announced a three-year collaboration with OpenAI — though just three months later, OpenAI shut down its Sora video platform. Disney responded at the time, saying: "We appreciate the constructive collaboration between our teams and what we learned from it, and we will continue to engage with AI platforms to find new ways to meet fans where they are while responsibly embracing new technologies that respect IP and the rights of creators."
