Now, Universal has weighed in with a message that leaves little doubt about how the company feels about one of its oldest rides.
Universal Sends a Clear Message
Universal recently shared a post on X that immediately caught the attention of longtime fans. The message was simple, heartfelt, and unmistakable:

Adventure could temporarily close in 2027 or 2028 for an extensive refurbishment, with a notice of commencement tied to work inside the attraction extending into late 2028 adding fuel to those discussions.
Some fans believe that timeline points to a significant refurbishment or modernization rather than routine maintenance, with speculation about updated effects, refreshed scenes, or infrastructure improvements designed to preserve the attraction for years to come. Other Changes Happening Around Universal Studios Florida
While E.T. Adventure appears to have a bright future, Universal Studios Florida is in the middle of one of its biggest transformations in years.
The most visible change is already impossible to miss. Hollywood Rip Ride RockIt has been completely demolished, and construction crews have started installing track for the park's new Fast & Furious-themed roller coaster. The project will dramatically reshape the New York section of the park and replace one of Universal's most recognizable coasters.
Another major change is coming soon. Universal has confirmed that Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close on August 17, with August 16 serving as guests' final opportunity to experience the attraction. Universal has not yet announced a replacement, though fan speculation has pointed to nostalgic franchises such as Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, or JAWS — none of which Universal has confirmed.
The Horror Makeup Show is also currently closed, undergoing a major overhaul.
