A new chapter is officially underway at Disney's Animal Kingdom. During its Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase presentation at D23, Disney revealed official names and fresh story details for the three attractions coming to Tropical Americas — the new land replacing DinoLand U.S.A. The land was first announced at D23 2024, with Encanto and Indiana Jones long rumored as its anchor experiences.
The three confirmed attractions are Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos. Disney is positioning the Encanto and Indiana Jones rides as the land's two headliners.
Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto
The Encanto attraction now has both an official name and a fuller story to go with it. In Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, guests will visit Casita during the celebration of Antonio Madrigal receiving his gift to communicate with animals. Riders travel through furniture-built vehicles that react to the story unfolding around them, eventually arriving in a reimagined version of Antonio's room — depicted here as a lush rainforest featuring more than 50 animals developed in consultation with Disney's Animals, Science and Environment team.
The attraction will have no height requirement, making it accessible to guests of all ages. Returning to voice their beloved characters are Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel, Jessica Darrow as Luisa, and Diane Guerrero as Isabela.
Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent
Disney has officially confirmed the name of its new Indiana Jones attraction: Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. The ride will take over the current site of DINOSAUR — though Disney is not simply retheming the existing attraction.
In the new storyline, Indy uncovers a hidden passage inside an ancient temple said to lead toward the Mayan underworld, a passage guarded — according to local legend — by a mythological creature. True to form, Indy pushes deeper into the temple to investigate, only to discover that the legend — Tsukán — is very real.
From there, things escalate quickly. Guests are pulled through a portal into the underworld itself, triggering an escape sequence set against bats, scorpions, fire, and snakes, before building to a climactic confrontation with the creature guarding the temple. As Disney Parks Blog put it:
"You may be asking, 'why'd it have to be snakes?' and Imagineers have a great answer to that. Chris divulged that you'll encounter the Tsukán throughout the attraction, including a final confrontation that will probably solidify your fear of snakes for the rest of time."
Disney also confirmed a significant technical milestone: the Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronic will be modeled after Harrison Ford — marking the first time an Indy animatronic has been built in his likeness.
A First Look at the Temple Facade
Beyond the story details, construction-watcher bioreconstruct has shared a new aerial photo showing the colorful temple facade now rising at the attraction's site. According to the post:
"Aerial photo of temple construction at Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. The colorful sections were sculpted and painted over several months at the Imagineering offices in backstage Animal Kingdom. Crane recently placed these sections above rockwork forms."
What This Means for Animal Kingdom Guests
With official names, detailed storylines, and construction visibly progressing, Animal Kingdom guests now have a much clearer picture of what will replace DinoLand U.S.A. The Indiana Jones reveal in particular signals a far more ambitious, story-driven attraction than a simple retheme. With production already underway on the animatronics and ride vehicles, expect more details — including opening timelines — as construction continues to move forward.
