If you've been keeping an eye on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios, you may have noticed that the ongoing construction project is getting bigger. More scaffolding has appeared on the beloved attraction since the refurbishment work began earlier this year, and the latest updates show just how far the work has progressed.

Scaffolding Creeps Higher on the Hollywood Tower Hotel

On August 4, BlogMickey reported that the scaffolding — which originally appeared at the base of the building — had begun making its way up toward the Hollywood Tower Hotel sign. The new scaffolding on the left side of the building is most visible from the Villains: Unfairly Ever After courtyard. Much like the scaffolding that showed up on the other side of the structure back in early July, it wraps around windows and decorative tiling, pointing to refurbishment work on those exterior details.

Fresh Paint Spotted on the Right Side of the Building

Meanwhile, crews have also been visibly active on the right side of the building, where fresh pink paint made an appearance this week. While the color matches the rest of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, it currently stands out because the weathered, aged layer that gives the facade its signature haunted look hasn't been applied yet. As fans of the attraction know, the exterior is intentionally designed to look cracked and in disrepair — so that bright, clean paint is hard to miss.

The Attraction Remains Open

Walt Disney World Resort has not made any public comment on the construction, which isn't unusual. Disney took a similar approach when it refreshed the entire exterior of the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Park, staying quiet throughout because the attraction inside remained open. The same appears to be true here — the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror continues to welcome Central Florida theme park guests even as the visible work on the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade carries on.
