Walt Disney World has given fans two enormous reasons to get excited about 2027 vacations. But those same announcements may also give families a reason to pause before reaching for their wallets.

Disney has confirmed major new openings at both Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2027. Monstropolis will begin welcoming guests at Hollywood Studios, while the sweeping Pueblo Esperanza project will bring an entirely new experience to Animal Kingdom. That's genuinely thrilling news for anyone who's been waiting for something fresh.

The potential price tag, however, is another story entirely.

Disney Has Already Raised 2027 Ticket Prices

Before looking ahead, it's worth noting what's already happened: Disney has already increased prices for 2027. Walt Disney World has released vacation packages and ticket pricing through October 31, 2027, using its date-based pricing model, which means guests pay different amounts depending on which park they visit and when.

Magic Kingdom offers the clearest look at how quickly that ceiling is rising. Its most expensive one-day ticket in 2026 reaches $209. For the currently released portion of 2027, that peak climbs another $10 to $219. EPCOT can reach $214, Disney's Hollywood Studios can reach $209, and Disney's Animal Kingdom can reach $189.

Those numbers are already a stretch for families traveling together. A family of four buying four $219 Magic Kingdom tickets would spend $876 before taxes just to get through the gate — and that's before factoring in a hotel, food, transportation, souvenirs, Lightning Lane purchases, or anything else.

And Disney may soon have even more new experiences to sell.

Two Major Expansions Are Coming to Walt Disney World in 2027

Disney's latest announcements make 2027 one of the resort's most significant expansion years in recent memory.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, Monstropolis will begin opening in phases in 2027. The Monsters, Inc.-themed area will eventually include Disney's suspended-door coaster, along with restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.

Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom, an even bigger transformation is underway. Pueblo Esperanza — Disney's new Tropical Americas area — will also open in 2027. The area will feature Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos.

These additions could dramatically change the value Disney assigns to both parks. Animal Kingdom has traditionally carried lower one-day prices than Magic Kingdom, but once Pueblo Esperanza opens, Disney will have a major new collection of attractions to market there — which brings us to the part of the 2027 calendar that remains a big question mark.

November and December Could Be the Real Price Test

Disney has only released 2027 bookings through October 31, leaving November and December without published ticket prices. Those aren't exactly ordinary months at Walt Disney World.

November and December bring the resort's beloved Christmas celebrations along with some of its most popular vacation periods. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's crowds generate tremendous demand even without major new attractions in the mix.

Now picture those holiday crowds arriving at the same time Disney is actively promoting brand-new park expansions. Disney hasn't announced exact opening dates for either Monstropolis or Pueblo Esperanza, so it's not yet known whether either will debut late in the year. Monstropolis is expected to open in phases beginning in 2027, and Tropical Americas is also confirmed for 2027.

If major portions of these expansions open closer to the holiday season, Disney could find itself with a powerful combination: Christmas demand plus new-attraction excitement. The unreleased calendar gives Disney room to establish higher peak prices if demand supports them — though a further increase hasn't been announced.

What Would a 10% Price Increase Actually Look Like?

The numbers are worth spelling out. Using the currently published 2027 peak prices as a baseline, a 10% increase would push Magic Kingdom's $219 ticket to roughly $241. EPCOT could climb from $214 to approximately $235. Disney's Hollywood Studios could move from $209 to around $230, while Animal Kingdom could jump from $189 to approximately $208.

That last figure is particularly notable. A 10% increase would push Animal Kingdom beyond the $200 mark — a remarkable threshold for a park that has long been Walt Disney World's least expensive option.

It's also worth remembering that Disney doesn't need to raise every ticket by the same amount. Its date-based pricing model allows the company to increase peak-date prices while keeping lower-demand dates more affordable. That makes November and December especially worth watching.

2027 Could Be a Very Exciting — and Very Expensive — Year

There is genuinely a lot to look forward to at Walt Disney World in 2027. Monstropolis and Pueblo Esperanza will give guests major new reasons to visit, adding rich new experiences to two parks Disney wants guests to explore for full days.

But new attractions don't erase the price increases that are already in place. Magic Kingdom has already reached $219 for peak dates through October, and the final two months of the year remain an open question.

Disney has not announced another 10% increase, and there's no guarantee one is coming. Still, if the company combines higher holiday demand with the excitement surrounding its newest expansions, the conditions are in place for Disney to test another pricing ceiling. For families considering a late-2027 vacation, those missing November and December prices could turn out to be one of the biggest Walt Disney World stories to watch.
