Disneyland Resort is moving forward with the disassembly of the Sleeping Beauty Castle sculpture that has graced the esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park for over a year — but don't worry, your vacation photos won't be affected. Here's what Southern California Disney Park guests need to know.

The Disneyland70 Castle Sculpture Disappears

Earlier this week, Disneyland Resort erected teal-blue construction walls around the colorful Sleeping Beauty Castle sculpture it originally installed for the resort's 70th-anniversary celebration. The structure spent more than a year in the esplanade between the two parks, but it is now coming down as the Disneyland70 festivities draw to a close on August 9, 2026.

At first, some of the sculpture's towers, roofs, and stained glass details were still visible above the construction walls. According to WDWNT, however, the entire sculpture has since disappeared, with all remaining elements now hidden behind those teal-blue barriers.

A Look Back at the Sculpture

The Sleeping Beauty Castle sculpture was a true centerpiece of the Disneyland70 celebration. Decorated with colorful stained glass, it featured five towers inspired by the original Disneyland Park lands: Fantasyland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, and Main Street, U.S.A.

The sculpture also featured a silhouette of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse holding hands. That element was later replaced partway through the anniversary celebration after viral social media posts claimed that Walt's hat made him look like President Donald Trump.

What's Still Happening at Disneyland Resort

While the castle sculpture is on its way out, the rest of the Disneyland70 festivities continue through August 9, 2026. The Paint the Night electrical parade and Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular have been extended even further, running through August 20, 2026.
