If you're planning a visit to Disney California Adventure Park, here's something worth knowing before you go: The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure, located in Paradise Gardens Park, has begun an exterior refurbishment.

What's Happening at the Attraction?

On August 8, WDWNT reported that construction materials and temporary barriers had appeared outside The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure. Plywood walls now run from the main attraction entrance and down the right side of the building, while scaffolding and black scrim fabric cover nearly the entire facade on that right side. The only thing still visible on that side of the building is a cast member-only door, surrounded by the scaffolding and scrim.

The good news? The scaffolding and scrim do not extend into the main entrance area. Guests walking through Paradise Gardens Park can still see the towering columns and decorated walls at the attraction's entrance.

Is the Ride Still Open?

Yes! Despite the clearly extensive work happening on the exterior, The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure remains open to guests. Disneyland Resort has not announced any upcoming closure for the attraction, which suggests the refurbishment work is limited to the outside of the building and is not affecting the ride system inside.

As is standard when construction doesn't impact guest-facing operations, Disneyland Resort has not issued an official statement about the refurbishment.
