Destin Daniel Cretton's Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) is swinging its way into the record books — and it shows no signs of slowing down.

A Historic Box Office Run

Since its release at the end of July, the fourth entry in Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man series — starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker — has been on an extraordinary box office tear. The film blazed past the $1 billion mark, then the $2 billion mark, and has now achieved something truly remarkable: with a reported global gross of $2.32 billion (and still climbing), Spider-Man: Brand New Day has overtaken James Cameron's iconic 1997 epic Titanic — which earned $2.257 billion — to claim the title of fourth-highest-grossing movie of all time, per Comic Book Movie.

The film, which also stars Zendaya as MJ and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, has already surpassed Avengers: Endgame (2019) on the list of highest-grossing domestic releases as well.

What's Left to Conquer?

Sitting just ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in third place is Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) with $2.334 billion — a gap that looks very likely to close soon. Beyond that, only Avengers: Endgame ($2.797 billion) and Avatar (2009) ($2.923 billion) stand between your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and the very top of the all-time global box office chart.

A Generational Year for Tom Holland

This milestone is a landmark moment for Sony, Marvel, and the Spider-Man franchise, cementing the wall-crawler as one of the most beloved pop culture characters of all time. And it's not just Spider-Man: Brand New Day making waves — Tom Holland is having a truly generational year at the box office. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which also stars Holland alongside Zendaya and Jon Bernthal, is still playing in theaters with a global gross of $1.458 billion at the time of publication. Those combined numbers are set to position Holland, Zendaya, and Bernthal among the highest-earning stars in Hollywood this year.

Could the Records Be Broken Again?

As impressive as these milestones are, Spider-Man: Brand New Day's records could face a challenge before the year is out. The Russo Brothers are returning to the Marvel franchise with Avengers: Doomsday (2026), slated for a December 18 debut — opening alongside Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three (2026). It's shaping up to be one of the most extraordinary years in box office history.
