If you're a Disney World planner who's ever lost the dining reservation war — or simply didn't know 60 days out that you'd be at the parks — this news might be music to your ears.
While browsing the My Disney Experience app, we spotted something new: a Join Walk-Up List button appearing on two popular reservation-only spots: The Beak and Barrel at Magic Kingdom and GEO-82 at EPCOT.
What We Found in the App
The Beak and Barrel, the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar at Magic Kingdom that has been reservation-only since it opened last year, now shows a Walk-Up List option — both on its individual page and on the general Walk-Up List page in the app. When we tried to join, though, an error message came up. That said, it doesn't appear to be a glitch, since the button shows up in multiple places. It's possible the bar was simply fully booked for the day.
The same situation played out at GEO-82, the lounge inside Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. A brand-new Join Walk-Up List button is visible, but pressing it also returned an error message.
Interestingly, the Disney World website itself lists a walk-up list as available for GEO-82, which adds more weight to the idea that this feature is on its way — even if it hasn't officially launched yet.
Update: Feature Temporarily Removed
Update: As of the morning of July 10th, the walk-up waitlist option has been removed from the app for both GEO-82 and The Beak and Barrel. We'll continue to keep an eye out for any additional changes.
What This Means for Your Visit
Disney hasn't made a formal announcement about when walk-up lists will officially begin at these locations. But the signs are pointing in that direction. We'll be sure to update you as more information becomes available.
In the meantime, if snagging a reservation at either of these spots has been on your Disney bucket list, it may be worth keeping an eye on the My Disney Experience app!
