If you're a die-hard Walt Disney World or Disneyland fan, there is truly only one weekend that matters this year. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is set to take over Anaheim this August, and all eyes are locked on the highly anticipated parks panel. Historically, this massive Saturday night presentation is where Disney executives pull back the curtain on billion-dollar theme park expansions, new E-ticket attractions, and massive cruise ships.
Disney has now released the official programming schedule for the 2026 D23 Expo — and it includes a significant shift in how the news will be delivered.

Harris is practically Disney royalty at this point. From hosting the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade to narrating the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT, he brings genuine fandom and theatrical flair to everything he does. Rather than a traditional keynote speech, the 2026 showcase will be structured more like a theatrical journey — directly inspired by Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. Harris will act as the evening's guide, leading engaging conversations with the Imagineers, storytellers, artists, and innovators who are actively building the future of the theme parks.
For the last several years, the Disney Experiences Showcase was synonymous with Josh D'Amaro, who commanded the stage with rock-star energy and personally delivered the biggest bombshell announcements. With D'Amaro moving up to become Disney's CEO, the company is fundamentally changing the format of its biggest presentation this year. Having Harris conduct interviews with Imagineers, rather than an executive reading from a teleprompter, promises to make the two-hour presentation feel far more intimate and creative.
The Reality Check: 'Building on 2024'
While having Neil Patrick Harris host is genuinely exciting, the most important detail in Disney's announcement was buried in the middle of the press release. Disney explicitly stated that the 2026 showcase will be
