Great news for fans of Disneyland's beloved Main Street Cinema: after nearly three weeks of closure, the historic theater on Main Street, U.S.A. has reopened its doors. And while the interior looks much the same, what's playing on those six screens has changed.

From Sherman Brothers Tribute to Mickey Mouse Shorts

Main Street Cinema reopened on August 31, following the conclusion of Disneyland Resort's 70th anniversary celebration. During the milestone festivities, the theater had been showing So Much That We Share, a special tribute to the Sherman Brothers — Robert and Richard Sherman — who worked alongside Walt Disney to create some of the most iconic music in the company's history, including the beloved tune for "it's a small world." Before his passing in 2024, Richard Sherman wrote a final verse to that song, which was added to the ride as part of the Disneyland70 celebration.

Now that the anniversary festivities have wrapped, the Cinema has returned to showing Mickey Mouse shorts. However, there's a notable shift from before: rather than featuring cartoons from a variety of eras, the six-screen theater now exclusively shows shorts from the 2013 Mickey Mouse television series.

A Fresh Look Outside

As spotted in a photo shared by WDW News Today on Facebook, the marquee once again proudly reads: "Now Showing Mickey Mouse – Star of the Silver Screen." A yellow banner beneath displays various depictions of Mickey and the phrases "Now Showing," "It Was All Started By A Mouse," and "Chock-Full Of Laughter And Fun!"

Additional banners on the building feature drawings of Mickey Mouse's face along with text reading "Six Separate Screens," "Six Separate Films," "Come In and See Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse," "Comedy! Adventure! Romance! Comedy!," and "Thrills! Comedy! Pathos! Comedy!"

The columns flanking the main entrance are wrapped in posters featuring artwork inspired by the 2013 animated Mickey Mouse shorts. Those posters read:

"Main Street Cinema Proudly Presents

Step Inside

Inside the Cinema, the iconic ticket-taker mannequin Tilly is back at her post in the ticket booth, dressed in a mask and spooky attire fitting for the Halloween season. The walls are lined with posters celebrating Mickey Mouse cartoons and theme park attractions, including The Band Concert (1935), Steamboat Willie (1928), Fantasia (1940), Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Mickey's Philharmagic, and the now-defunct Mickey Mouse Revue — which preceded Mickey's Philharmagic at Magic Kingdom Park through 1983 before relocating to Tokyo Disneyland, where it ran until 2009.

Despite the change in programming, the interior of Main Street Cinema didn't undergo significant alterations during the multi-week refurbishment. Guests can still settle onto the benches or stand on the center platform to enjoy the cartoons playing across all six screens simultaneously.
