The adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu have already taken on a brand-new look following their big-screen debut in The Mandalorian & Grogu. The latest entry in the Mando-Verse is LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian, now streaming on Disney+, and while plenty of beloved cast members have returned to reprise their roles, a few notable recasts have also been confirmed.
What Is LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian?
Rather than continuing the story of Din Djarin and Grogu where the film left off, this new animated special takes a different approach. According to StarWars.com,
"this new animated galactic adventure celebrates your favorite stories and characters from all three seasons of The Mandalorian series, making it perfect for Star Wars and LEGO fans of all ages."The official trailer was revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, where an early screening was also held.
Who Came Back?
A strong lineup of cast members from the original Disney+ series have returned to voice their characters. Returning voices include:
- Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze
- Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon
- Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand
- Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto
- Bill Burr as Migs Mayfield
- Nick Nolte as Kuiil
- Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano
- Taika Waititi as IG-11
- Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett
- Emily Swallow as the Armorer
- Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Carson Teva
- Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth
Who Has Been Recast?
Not every character is voiced by their original actor, however. Eric Bauza steps in to voice Luke Skywalker, replacing Mark Hamill, while Gavin Hammon takes over the role of Din Djarin from Pedro Pascal.
The Client — one of the first major villains introduced in The Mandalorian, originally portrayed by Werner Herzog — is now voiced by Flula Borg. And following the passing of the late Carl Weathers, the role of Greef Karga has been taken on by Carl Lumbly.
What About Cara Dune?
One character notably absent from the special is Cara Dune. Despite being a regular presence throughout the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, the character is not expected to appear in LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Gina Carano, who originally played the role, was fired by Lucasfilm in 2021 following divisive social media posts — and unlike other recast characters, Cara Dune has not been given a new voice actor for this project.
LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian is now streaming on Disney+, alongside The Mandalorian & Grogu and all three seasons of The Mandalorian.
What do you think of Lucasfilm leaving Cara Dune out of the new LEGO Mandalorian special? Should the character be recast, or is it time to leave Dune in the past? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
