When fans think of Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), the iconic lineup comes to mind instantly — Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), R2-D2 (Kenny Baker), Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), and Darth Vader (James Earl Jones). But that beloved galaxy is about to become considerably more crowded.
The Star Wars 50th Anniversary Celebrations Are Coming
As Lucasfilm prepares for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars in 2027, the franchise is receiving several major projects and developments. Among them is the first official Welsh-language version of A New Hope — titled Star Wars: Gobaith Newydd — which will premiere on S4C and other streaming platforms from Christmas Day, featuring an entirely new Welsh voice cast.
Then, beginning in January 2027, fans will be able to experience A New Hope in a way that has never been officially attempted before.

The full connecting cover artwork reveals just how crowded this version of A New Hope will become. Alongside Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2, and other familiar Star Wars characters, the five-part connecting cover features:

On the villainous side, Doctor Doom, Thanos, and Ultron join Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire.
A Historic First for Two Iconic Franchises
Marvel and Star Wars have shared a relationship dating back to 1977, when Marvel first published Star Wars comics. However, Hope Assembles marks the first official in-universe crossover between the two franchises. As Marvel put it:
"Hope Assembles marks a new chapter in the decades-long relationship between Marvel and Star Wars. Marvel has published Star Wars comics as far back as 1977 – the year A New Hope hit theaters. But now, in 2027, those two worlds will finally collide on the page for the first time."
Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles #1 arrives in January 2027, with the series continuing monthly.
