Disney World and Universal Orlando aren't the only theme parks worth visiting this summer! We made our way over to LEGOLAND Florida to check out their LEGO Festival, and we're happy to report it absolutely delivered. The festival is running now through August 16th, and if you've got LEGO-loving kids in the family, this one is not to be missed.

What to Expect When You Arrive

The LEGO Festival is built with kids in mind, but there's plenty for the whole family to enjoy — think brick build activities, live entertainment, and some seriously impressive LEGO models, all on top of LEGOLAND's regular daily offerings. When you enter the park during the festival, you'll receive a wristband and a map. Collect a stamp at each of the five zones and you'll score a collectible bag and 600 LEGO Insider points. Yes, please!

The Five Festival Zones

Music Zone

First up is the Music Zone, home to a big stage show featuring bands Thunder Bricks and Beats on Harmony going head-to-head in a battle of the bands. The kids in attendance were absolutely loving it, dancing along to the catchy music. The story is simple and easy to follow — perfect for the younger crowd. This zone also features interactive murals where you build a section and then add it to a larger display.

Thrill Zone

Next is the Thrill Zone, which takes its inspiration from F1 racing and is all things cars. There's a live show here where characters create a beat using different car parts, and it was another big hit with the kids. Standout activity: The Pit Crew Experience, where kids are assigned to a racecar — wheels, spoiler, and front wing removed — and race against other players to swap all the pieces back on. There's also a pinewood derby-style ramp with all kinds of variations (straight, one bump, two bumps, three bumps, and more), where you build a little LEGO race car and send it down the hill to compete. One of the most interactive spots in the whole festival!

Creative Zone

The Creative Zone is a bit more tucked away and the least robust of the five, but it's a cool air-conditioned room filled with tables loaded with random LEGO bricks. Two large tables feature gorgeous, colorful dioramas where kids can place their own little creations. A Master Builder experience is also located here, though we weren't able to catch it despite visiting multiple times.

Chill Out Zone

Our personal favorite? The Chill Out Zone — and yes, partly because it's indoors with plenty of seating! Here, you can build a LEGO flower or learn how to construct a LEGO bug. For the really little ones, there's a story time with Hopsy, a giant LEGO Duplo red rabbit, where a human friend reads a short story before kids get to meet Hopsy in person. Adorable doesn't even begin to cover it.

LEGO Pokémon Play Zone

The newest addition to the festival is the LEGO Pokémon Play Zone, and it is easily the most robust section of the event. Pokémon fans are going to love this one. Here's how it works: you start by selecting your LEGO Pokémon from a starting lineup that includes Bulbasaur, Charmander, Eevee, Squirtle, and Pikachu. From there, you move into the next room to build a little sandwich to feed your Pokémon. Then it's time to train, followed by a battle with other players' Pokémon. After all that excitement, the Pokémon need to "recharge" and take a nap in the final room — which leads you right out into the coffee shop next door. It's a genuinely clever and immersive experience.

We also got the chance to sample two special seasonal offerings at the LEGOLAND Coffee Co.

  • LEGO Minifigure Head Cookie — $10.89: This is a cookie you decorate yourself, which is a genuinely fun and creative touch. In terms of taste, it's a pretty standard, fairly hard sugar cookie, and the provided icing is fine but nothing extraordinary. That said, it's unlikely to matter much to a kid — the moment you see it, your inner child activates. We wouldn't necessarily order it again, but it's a smash hit for the experience alone.
  • Lyrical Lemonade — $9.89: A bright, refreshing mango lemonade topped with strawberry boba and fresh diced mango. It's light, super refreshing, and not sickeningly sweet — though you'll want to enjoy sweeter flavors to fully appreciate it. If you've got a sweet tooth, this one is absolutely for you.

Is the LEGO Festival Worth It?

Overall, we loved the LEGO Festival and were genuinely surprised by how much it added to a park that already has plenty going on. If you've got creative, LEGO-loving kids in your crew, now is a great time to plan a visit. The festival runs through August 16th, so be sure to grab those tickets before it wraps up!
