Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has officially confirmed that one character will serve as the anchor of the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday — and it's Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova.

Yelena Belova at the Center of It All

In a recent feature with Vanity Fair, Feige pointed to Yelena Belova as the central character of Avengers: Doomsday. Pugh herself supported that claim in the same article, implying that the film would be "anchored" by her character. This could mark one of the biggest roles Yelena has played in the MCU to date, and may also set her up for a return in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is slated for December 2027.

What's Ahead for the MCU

Principal photography for Avengers: Secret Wars is set to take place this fall. Several cast members have already been confirmed for the 2027 follow-up, including Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom and Letitia Wright reprising her role as Shuri (Black Panther).

As for Pugh, her MCU journey has been a busy one. In addition to Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, she has appeared in Hawkeye, Thunderbolts*, and Brand New Day, and has contributed voiceover work to animated Disney+ projects as well.

While the full plot of Avengers: Doomsday remains under wraps, the teasers and confirmations so far make one thing clear: Yelena Belova will have a major role in the film and in the MCU's future.
