Big news for anyone with Hong Kong Disneyland plans: Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is closing entirely as part of an ongoing refurbishment effort. October 10 will be the last day guests can check in, with the full closure taking effect from October 12. No reopening date has been confirmed at this time.

Disney Hotel Closures: A Rare but Real Occurrence

Total hotel closures don't happen often in the Disney world, but they're not unheard of. Disneyland Paris has seen a couple of high-profile examples — the iconic Disneyland Hotel shut for nearly four years before reopening in 2024 with a brand-new Disney Princess theme, while Disney Hotel New York closed for a Marvel-themed overhaul before relaunching as The Art of Marvel in 2021.

Permanent closures are even rarer, though Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World proved they can happen. That immersive hotel welcomed its final guests in September 2023, just 18 months after opening, following a period of low occupancy. Thankfully, the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel closure is a more temporary situation.

What the Closure Means for Guests

During the closure period, guests won't be able to stay at the hotel — and they also won't be able to dine at any of its restaurants. That means several beloved dining experiences will be off the table, including:

  • Enchanted Garden Restaurant — known for its character meals
  • Crystal Lotus — offering Disney-themed dim sum
  • Walt's Cafe — serving international dishes
  • The Grand Salon and the seasonal Sea Breeze Bar

It's worth noting that renovation work on the west side of the building is already underway. Running daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. since June 2026, Hong Kong Disneyland has noted the project may cause some noise or odors, though room views, facilities, and services have remained unaffected up to this point.

About Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is the resort's flagship property, featuring Victorian architecture reminiscent of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World. The 400-room hotel overlooks the South China Sea and boasts a grand lobby, a Mickey-shaped garden maze, pools, and a range of character and signature dining experiences.

Where to Stay During the Closure

Guests visiting Hong Kong Disneyland Resort while the hotel is closed still have two great options nearby. Disney Explorers Lodge offers an adventure-themed experience inspired by destinations across Asia, Oceania, South America, and Africa. Meanwhile, Disney's Hollywood Hotel channels the glamour of classic Hollywood with a playful, family-friendly atmosphere.
