The 999 happy haunts are about to take a brief hiatus. Within the span of a single week, Haunted Mansion will close at both Disneyland in Anaheim and Tokyo Disneyland, as each park prepares for its annual Nightmare Before Christmas-themed seasonal overlay.
\n\nTwo Haunted Mansions, Two Closures
\n\nHaunted Mansion has spent decades balancing humor with horror. Guests board Doom Buggies and pass a rattling coffin, Madame Leota's séance, transparent ballroom dancers, and a graveyard full of some of Disney's most enthusiastic ghosts. While the attraction has several versions around the world, no two are identical — Disneyland's original resembles a stately Southern estate, while Tokyo Disneyland houses its ghosts inside an ominous Gothic mansion in Fantasyland. Both, however, are home to the famous 999 inhabitants.
\n\nNow, both rides are entering their final days in their traditional forms — at least for a while. Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion closes on August 4, 2026, while Disneyland's attraction in Anaheim follows four days later on August 8.
\n\nWhat's Happening at Tokyo Disneyland
\n\nTokyo Disneyland guests have just a couple of days left to experience the regular Haunted Mansion. The ride will remain unavailable from August 4 through September 14, giving Disney approximately six weeks to complete its seasonal transformation.
