Halloween Horror Nights has always had a clear boundary. You buy a ticket, walk through the gates at Universal Studios Florida, spend five or six hours getting thoroughly terrified, and then head home. The event ends where the park ends — and for decades, that formula worked beautifully because the intensity inside was the entire product.
But things are changing for 2026. As Halloween Horror Nights celebrates its 35th anniversary with one of the biggest lineups ever assembled, that long-standing boundary is officially moving. For the first time to this extent, the Halloween Horror Nights atmosphere is spilling beyond the park gates and into the Universal Orlando Resort hotels, transforming select properties into extensions of the event itself.
What Hotel Guests Can Expect
The expansion covers nearly every Universal Orlando Resort hotel and comes in several forms. New and returning themed bars will keep the frights going before, during, and after the in-park event. All hotels will feature specialty cocktail menus at their bars, with wickedly crafted spirits throughout the season. Select hotels will also serve late-night bites for guests returning after a night of screams.
Hotel guests also receive priority entrance to the Halloween Horror Nights event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. — a genuinely meaningful perk at an event where entry lines can eat into your night.
The Keyholder Bar: A Brand-New Addition
One new feature deserves its own spotlight. Hotel guests, along with Passholders and Universal Rewards Cardmembers attending Halloween Horror Nights, will have exclusive access to the Keyholder Bar inside the event. Located to the left of the Music Plaza Stage, it offers quicker access to cocktails and mocktails. Anyone who has tried to grab a drink at Halloween Horror Nights on a Saturday in October will immediately understand why that matters.
New Hotel Transformations for 2026
Three hotels are receiving brand-new themed experiences this year:
Loews Royal Pacific Resort
Jake's American Bar becomes the Universal Monsters Laguna Lounge — a classic monster hideaway inspired by mid-century modern tiki. Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, and more lurk throughout the décor, along with larger-than-life photo ops. Universal Monsters meets tiki is an unexpected combination that fits the resort perfectly.
Universal Stella Nova Resort
At Nova Bar, a sleek research exhibit has gone very wrong. A mysterious substance has breached containment, creeping and pulsing with a life of its own. Hazmat teams have sealed off the area and are working urgently to stabilize things before the substance spreads further.
Universal Terra Luna Resort
By day, Luna Bar is a sleek interstellar outpost. By night, it becomes contested ground as two rival alien species — who once declared Terra Luna neutral territory — go to war. Guests find themselves surrounded by the turf battle, with each species claiming opposite sides of the bar.
Returning Hotel Experiences
The rest of the resort lineup features beloved returning favorites, several of which have been expanded for 2026:
- Loews Portofino Bay Hotel: The Thirsty Fish returns for a second year. Guests climb aboard an old fishing ship frozen in time by a freak ice storm, complete with fishing nets and ropes crusted in ice, a broken mast dangling over the bar, and an eerie blue glow throughout.
- Hard Rock Hotel: Night of the Living Shred is back for another rancid residency in the lobby and Veranda Bar. The undead roadie crew returns with more zombies, more band members, and a rock-fueled apocalypse — with the Veranda Bar joining the experience as a new addition this year.
- Loews Sapphire Falls Resort: The lower lobby transforms into an eerie seaside Gothic Manor, with creepy floral sculptures, candelabras, and dark-academia touches. New this year is a satellite bar serving cocktails including the Witch Doctor Old Fashioned, the Pumpkin Plunder, and the Haunted Jungle Bird — all also available at Strong Water Tavern.
- Universal Aventura Hotel: Alien overlords have taken over barVentura, serving mind-controlling cocktails while attempting to abduct unsuspecting guests to their looming mothership.
- Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort: The fan-favorite Pumpkin Lord Bar returns to Swizzle Lounge, with the theme expanding into the lobby where more sinister roots wait to be unearthed.
- Universal Endless Summer Resort, Dockside Inn & Suites: Spirits from the briny deep have washed ashore at the Sunset Lounge, taking the form of eerie driftwood sculptures scattered throughout the space.
Inside the Park: The HHN 35 Lineup
To appreciate just how big this anniversary year is, here's a look at what's happening inside the event itself. Ten haunted houses are on the slate, split between original concepts and licensed properties.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs August 28 through November 1, 2026, at Universal Studios Florida. If you were already considering an onsite hotel stay, the value proposition shifted this year. Priority entrance from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Keyholder Bar access, and a fully themed hotel bar add real benefits on top of the usual convenience of staying on property.
And for guests who love the Halloween atmosphere but aren't looking to walk through ten haunted houses, the hotel bars offer a way to be part of the season without purchasing an event ticket at all.
