A Walt Disney World guest was recently spotted taking an unauthorized late-night swim in Seven Seas Lagoon near Disney's Polynesian Village Resort — and the whole thing was caught on video.
What Happened?
TikTok user MomMakingMagic shared a video showing a guest in the water near the resort's dock after dark. After a moment in the lagoon, the guest climbs out using a ladder intended for crew members and runs back down the dock. MomMakingMagic captioned the moment with a laugh, saying "not me watching someone take a dip in Seven Seas Lagoon," and jokingly suggested the guest may have had one too many Lapu Lapu cocktails.
Why This Is So Dangerous
Swimming in undesignated areas at Walt Disney World is extremely dangerous. As anyone familiar with Florida knows, it should be assumed that any body of water in the state may contain alligators. Disney has posted signs throughout the resort warning guests not to swim in Seven Seas Lagoon and other lakes on property.
Those warning signs were added 10 years ago following the tragic death of 2-year-old Lane Thomas Graves, who was killed by an alligator in Seven Seas Lagoon. Since that heartbreaking incident, trappers have removed over 400 alligators from Walt Disney World property.
A Pattern of Recent Guest Incidents
This lagoon swim is just the latest in a string of notable guest incidents at Walt Disney World. Others include a man jumping out of his Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride vehicle just before the big drop, and guests getting into a physical altercation in the queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
The message is clear: please stay out of the lagoon — and stick to the resort pools!
