Walt Disney Imagineering has given us an exciting peek at some of the monster animals that will be calling Monstropolis home at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The team shared painted maquettes — small sculpted models — showcasing the quirky creatures set to inhabit the new land.

Meet the Monster Animals

Monstropolis is taking over the former Muppets Courtyard, bringing with it a new coaster, a new show at The Glob Theater, and new restaurants.

Among the painted maquettes revealed, the first is a monster squirrel complete with horns, three eyes, and fangs — a perfectly monstrous twist on a familiar critter.

Also on display is a painted maquette of conjoined pigeons, because even the birds in Monstropolis aren't quite what you'd expect.

Finally, there's what's been described as a "splitting hare sculpt" — a rabbit sporting three ears. In one of the painted maquettes, the hare is shown leaning over the display.
