Disney has officially extended its ban on fireworks at Disneyland Paris after local authorities prolonged a restriction that was originally set to expire on July 15. The ban now runs through July 19.

Why the Ban Is in Place

The Seine-et-Marne department — the French region that is home to Disneyland Paris — first introduced the restriction on July 10, following high temperatures that created an exceptional risk of fire across the area. Under the order, fireworks, pyrotechnic displays, bonfires, and campfires were all prohibited across outdoor public and private spaces. Officials also suspended the approval of exceptional permits that would normally allow fire-related events to go ahead.

With conditions remaining dangerous, authorities have now extended the order through July 19 inclusive. As fan account ED92 shared on X (formerly Twitter):

"In light of the exceptional circumstances in the Seine-et-Marne department, with all available emergency resources being deployed to the full, the order banning fireworks has been extended until 19 July inclusive."

How Disneyland Paris Is Adapting Its Nighttime Shows

The extension means Disneyland Paris will continue presenting both Disney Tales of Magic and Disney Cascade of Lights — the new nighttime spectacular at Disney Adventure World, previously known as Walt Disney Studios Park — in amended formats, with pyrotechnics removed from both productions.

Disney Tales of Magic, performed at Disneyland Park, is currently using drones to retain an aerial element during the temporary restriction.

The ban also impacted Disneyland Paris's heavily promoted Bastille Day celebration on July 14. The resort had advertised a new spectacular featuring Tinker Bell and several Disney stories connected to France, including Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ratatouille, and The Aristocats. The show went ahead using drones and projections in place of its planned pyrotechnics. Disney had warned guests ahead of the performance that changing conditions could require further alterations or potentially force the show's cancellation, saying:

"We can't wait for you to discover this new show, which will take you on a journey around the world with Tinker Bell through beloved Disney and Pixar classics. Emotion and magic will light up the sky with a unique drone display and enchanting projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle."

Other fireworks displays and public celebrations across France were also altered or cancelled as authorities responded to the elevated fire risk.

A Summer of Heat-Related Disruptions

Extreme temperatures have disrupted operations across multiple Disney resorts this summer. At Walt Disney World Resort, heat index values have reached roughly 110 degrees Fahrenheit, prompting the deployment of portable fans to cool cast members. Wait times have also been lower than average amid the ongoing conditions.

Entertainment adjustments at Walt Disney World have included updates to the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade, with costumed characters moved onto floats while face characters walk along the parade route.

Earlier in the summer, a June heatwave at Disneyland Paris saw costumed characters removed from Disney Stars on Parade. Some character meet-and-greets were also altered, and outdoor attractions temporarily closed.

While Disneyland Paris has made several adjustments to improve guest safety — including adding refreshment zones with shade, incorporating more misters, and making them easy to locate via the resort's app — several guests have come away from recent trips feeling disappointed.

As one guest shared on Reddit: "This is a once in a lifetime trip for us. We scrimped and saved to be here. We've brought everything to keep us cool, taken breaks in the shade, put on brave faces and tried to push through it, but I'm honestly done. … It's obviously not the park's fault that it's hot, but it has made the trip miserable, and there is no way to make it better."

Others have expressed similar frustrations, particularly around mass closures of outdoor attractions during peak temperatures.

Disruptions are set to continue, with a severe high-temperature warning in effect at Disneyland Paris on July 15. However, cooler temperatures are forecast for the weekend and early next week.
