Heading to EPCOT for the 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays? You'll want to rethink your evening plans before you go. Disney has shifted the schedule for two of EPCOT's biggest nighttime offerings — Candlelight Processional and Luminous The Symphony of Us — and the park itself is closing earlier than it has in previous holiday seasons.
EPCOT Is Closing Earlier This Holiday Season
The 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays runs from November 27 through December 30. During that stretch, EPCOT is currently scheduled to close at 9:00 p.m. — a full 30 minutes earlier than the 9:30 p.m. closing time guests have come to expect during past Festival of the Holidays seasons.
Thirty minutes might not sound like a big deal on paper, but at EPCOT, evenings during the festival are packed. Guests typically want to visit the Holiday Kitchens, catch holiday storytellers throughout World Showcase, see Candlelight Processional, sit down for dinner, browse festival merchandise, and still find a good spot for Luminous. That's a lot to fit into a night — and now there's a little less time to do it.
The earlier closing time is also the reason both of EPCOT's major nighttime shows are shifting forward on the clock.
Candlelight Processional Gets a New Schedule
Candlelight Processional — one of EPCOT's most beloved holiday traditions — combines a celebrity narrator, orchestra, choir, and the telling of the Christmas story, with three performances each evening at the America Gardens Theatre.
In previous years, those performances took place at 5:00 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:15 p.m. For 2026, every show is moving up by 15 minutes. The new Candlelight Processional schedule is:
- 4:45 p.m.
- 6:30 p.m.
- 8:00 p.m.
While 15 minutes may seem minor, it matters if you're building your whole evening around a specific performance. Guests who habitually aim for the 5:00 p.m. show will need to be ready a little earlier. Those planning dinner around the second performance will need to account for the shifted timing. And anyone hoping to catch the final show before fireworks should take note of the new 8:00 p.m. start.
That last performance is the one that requires the most thought. Beginning at 8:00 p.m. — one hour before EPCOT officially closes — it will wrap up right around the time the park is shutting down for the night. And then comes Luminous.
Luminous The Symphony of Us Is Also Starting Earlier
EPCOT's nighttime spectacular is moving up as well. Luminous The Symphony of Us, which previously began at 9:30 p.m. during Festival of the Holidays, will now start at 9:15 p.m. in 2026.
Notably, Luminous will still begin after EPCOT officially closes. The park closes at 9:00 p.m., with Luminous following 15 minutes later — creating a tight but continuous nighttime sequence for guests staying to the end.
For guests attending the 8:00 p.m. Candlelight Processional, the evening flows almost directly from one major show into the next. That can be a wonderful thing if nighttime entertainment is your priority — no long gap to fill between the two experiences. However, it also means there's very little time to move to a preferred fireworks viewing spot around World Showcase Lagoon after Candlelight Processional ends, or to squeeze in a last snack stop or shopping trip before Luminous begins.
The Earlier Performances May Be the Smarter Choice for Flexible Evenings
With the compressed schedule in mind, the first two Candlelight Processional performances become more appealing for guests who want breathing room. Catching the 4:45 p.m. show leaves several hours for dinner, Holiday Kitchens, attractions, and World Showcase before Luminous. Even the 6:30 p.m. performance gives guests considerably more flexibility for the rest of the evening.
The 8:00 p.m. performance, by contrast, effectively commits the final portion of the night to entertainment — which is perfect for some guests and potentially stressful for others.
What This Means for Your Evening Plans
These changes could matter most for guests trying to pack multiple Festival of the Holidays experiences into a single evening. Picture planning a table-service dinner, Candlelight Processional, a few Holiday Kitchen stops, and Luminous — all in one night. Moving everything earlier while also trimming 30 minutes from the park's operating hours leaves less room for delays. A long restaurant meal could suddenly conflict with a Candlelight Processional performance. A longer-than-expected wait at a Holiday Kitchen could eat into the time before the next show.
Guests arriving later in the day should also pay close attention. Anyone accustomed to EPCOT staying open until 9:30 p.m. during the festival should not assume that schedule applies in 2026. A later dinner reservation could now overlap with the final Candlelight Processional, or leave guests rushing to get outside before Luminous begins. Guests with Candlelight Processional Dining Packages should double-check their performance time rather than relying on schedules from previous visits.
The Bottom Line
Disney isn't removing either of these popular EPCOT experiences. Candlelight Processional will still offer three performances each night, and Luminous remains the park's nighttime spectacular. What's changing is the clock.
EPCOT's earlier 9:00 p.m. closing time during the 2026 Festival of the Holidays is pushing the entire nighttime schedule forward. Candlelight Processional moves to 4:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., while Luminous The Symphony of Us shifts to 9:15 p.m.
Guests who arrive without a strict plan may barely notice the difference. But for families and friends hoping to fit dinner, festival food, shows, and fireworks into one magical evening, those 15- and 30-minute shifts could matter quite a bit. The best approach? Check the schedule before you head into the park, build some extra cushion into your evening — and remember that this year, those final holiday hours will go a little faster than before.
