The Echo Lake refurbishment at Disney's Hollywood Studios continues to make progress! The fake logs and tree stump situated in the lake have now been painted, bringing the area one step closer to being back in tip-top shape. The lake was drained last month to allow crews to refurbish its props and the nearby Dockside Diner.
Fake Logs and Stump Get a Fresh Look
Earlier this week, only two of the tree stumps had received their new coat of paint. But when crews returned on Friday, September 25, the remaining stumps — along with the logs — were all treated to a fresh application of dark brown paint. Beyond their decorative charm, these props actually serve a practical purpose: they help conceal some of the lake's underwater plumbing. Once Echo Lake is filled back up, the logs and stumps will peek out above the water's surface, just as they always have.
For a sense of how far things have come, the unpainted logs and stumps looked quite different just a few days prior to the September 25 update.
About the Echo Lake Refurbishment
Disney has not announced a timeline for the completion of the Echo Lake refurbishment. The lake is a beloved hub of Disney's Hollywood Studios, surrounded by fan-favorite spots including Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Hollywood & Vine, 50's Prime Time Cafe, and For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.
Floating in the lake itself is the Dockside Diner, a quick-service kiosk shaped like a vintage steamer, as well as the iconic Gertie — the life-size green dinosaur that serves as home to Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Cream of Extinction.
