Good news for Disneyland guests! The beloved Newsstand merchandise kiosk at the entrance to Disneyland Park has officially reopened following several weeks of unannounced construction work. Guests who visited on or after September 21 were greeted by the refreshed kiosk, which had been closed since at least August 18 — when visitors arrived to find it wrapped in construction walls, scaffolding, and scrim fabric.
What Changed at the Newsstand?
According to a report from WDWNT, Cast Members at Disneyland Resort confirmed that the refurbishment included a brand-new roof, a fresh coat of paint, and the addition of corner guards along the edges of the wooden counter. Those corner guards are a welcome safety touch, helping to protect guests — especially little ones — from bumping into the sharp counter edges.
Despite the extended closure, the Newsstand looks largely the same as before, just noticeably refreshed and ready to welcome guests once again.
A Small but Mighty Spot on Main Street, U.S.A.
The Newsstand is one of the smaller merchandise locations in the Main Street, U.S.A. area at Disneyland Park, situated on the left side of the entrance gate. It's a go-to stop for essential Disney Park souvenirs, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears, Disney Pin Trading lanyards, bubble wands, and plush toys — perfect for grabbing that must-have memento right as you step into the magic.
No Official Word from Disneyland Resort
True to form, Disneyland Resort never publicly acknowledged the weeks-long closure or shared any details about the planned work. The Southern California resort typically keeps quiet on construction projects that don't involve major closures of attractions or restaurants, and this refurbishment was no exception.
Still, it's always a treat to see a familiar spot come back looking its best. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned Annual Passholder, the Newsstand is a charming little piece of the Disneyland experience — and now it's better than ever.
