An unusual scene unfolded recently at Disneyland when a Cast Member reportedly threw his keys and walkie-talkie into the Rivers of America before jumping in after them.
According to @amagicaldisneyday on Instagram, the Cast Member tossed his gear into the water and then took the plunge himself. An Instagram reel captured the moment, beginning with him already in the water and swimming back toward the shoreline. In the video, he can be seen wearing pants and shoes, though he had removed his shirt at some point before the footage began.
It is not known whether the Cast Member was disgruntled or simply overheated. Disneyland reached a high of 90°F on the day of the incident — a notably warm temperature for Anaheim, California, where average summer highs typically peak in the mid-80s. According to the Weather Channel, Disneyland is under a heat advisory through Monday, July 27 at 8 p.m. PDT.
For those unfamiliar, the Rivers of America is a manmade waterway at Disneyland that loops around Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland. It is home to the iconic Mark Twain Riverboat, a 19th-century-style paddle steamer that carries guests on a leisurely 15-minute scenic cruise.
