Disney World is heading into the holiday season from an interesting position — and if you're planning a Thanksgiving trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth, there's a lot to keep track of before you pack your bags.

Strong Business, Busy Holidays

The Walt Disney Company's Experiences business continues to generate record-level revenue, even as attendance growth at the domestic parks remains relatively modest. In Disney's fiscal third quarter, global guest numbers — including park attendance and Disney Cruise Line passengers — increased 4% year over year, with particular strength at Walt Disney World. Domestic park attendance rose 3%, while per-capita spending climbed 4%, meaning Disney has been generating meaningful financial growth without a dramatic increase in the number of guests walking through the gates. Total Experiences revenue for the quarter came in at $9.97 billion.

International visitation has remained softer, though the company noted some improvement. As Disney's Experiences division, led by CEO Josh D'Amaro, explained in its quarterly comments:

"We continued to face headwinds from international attendance at our domestic parks, but as expected, those headwinds moderated relative to the year-over-year impact observed in fiscal Q2."

That backdrop makes Thanksgiving week particularly significant. The holiday period consistently brings some of the year's strongest demand to Walt Disney World, and 2026 is shaping up to be no different.

Initial Park Hours for Thanksgiving Week (November 22–28, 2026)

Disney has released its first look at park hours for Thanksgiving week, though it's worth noting the company often adjusts operating hours as major dates draw closer. Here's what's currently scheduled:

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom requires the most careful planning this Thanksgiving. The park is currently scheduled to operate from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, November 22; Monday, November 23; Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26; and Saturday, November 28. Early Entry for eligible Disney Resort guests is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. each day, making those first hours especially valuable for tackling popular attractions before crowds build.

The catch? On Tuesday, November 24; Wednesday, November 25; and Friday, November 27, Magic Kingdom is scheduled to close to regular daytime guests at 6 p.m. for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which begins at 7 p.m. Guests without a party ticket will need to exit the park at that early closing time. That means three of the seven days during Thanksgiving week carry a significantly shortened daytime window at Magic Kingdom.

It's also worth keeping an eye on potential schedule updates. If recent changes to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates are any indication, Early Entry could be moved even earlier and hours on non-party days could be extended — though nothing along those lines has been confirmed yet.

EPCOT

EPCOT has fewer interruptions, with hours currently set for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the week. Extended Evening Theme Park Entry from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. is scheduled for Monday, November 23.

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. most days, though Disney Jollywood Nights will bring 7 p.m. closures on November 23 and November 28.

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day during the week, with Extended Evening Theme Park Entry on Tuesday, November 24.

Lightning Lane Prices Could Reach Their Peak

Beyond the park hours, guests should also be prepared for the possibility of some of the year's highest Lightning Lane costs. Disney's dynamic pricing system means that during high-demand periods, the price to bypass standby queues rises accordingly — and Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times of year.

Magic Kingdom's Lightning Lane Premier Pass is likely to draw the most attention. The product has already reached $449 per person for a single day on select 2026 dates, such as during Spring Break. For Thanksgiving week, the expected price is similarly $449 — up $20 from last year's $429 price point — illustrating just how high the cost of visiting Magic Kingdom can climb during peak periods.

Individual Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions could also be priced at their highest levels during the Thanksgiving rush. At EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind remains available through Lightning Lane Single Pass, while Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance fills that role at Hollywood Studios. Both are among the biggest draws in their respective parks, and demand-based pricing means guests should expect them to trend toward the upper end of their pricing ranges. Disney has not yet published the actual Thanksgiving 2026 Lightning Lane prices, so the precise amounts remain unknown.

One Water Park Will Be Closed

Thanksgiving guests will also be navigating a reduced water park lineup. In 2025 and 2026, Disney shifted to opening both water parks during the spring and summer seasons. This year, both Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park were open from mid-May through September 8, 2026 — but Typhoon Lagoon closed its gates on September 9. Blizzard Beach remains open. That means holiday crowds will be spread across fewer options.

Construction Across the Resort

Thanksgiving visitors will also encounter active construction sites across the Walt Disney World property. Heavy refurbishment work is currently underway at Magic Kingdom for Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land, at Disney's Hollywood Studios for Monstropolis, and at Disney's Animal Kingdom for the Tropical Americas. This significant overhaul is expected to continue through 2027 and 2028, with 2031 potentially marking a major new era for the resort.

What Should You Do to Prepare?

The advice heading into Thanksgiving 2026 is straightforward: watch the park hours and Lightning Lane prices closely as the dates approach. Disney can still extend operating hours — particularly during a holiday week — but the three Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party dates at Magic Kingdom are already locked in for early closures. And if Lightning Lane pricing follows the pattern seen during other peak periods, guests looking for the shortest possible waits could be facing some of the highest prices Disney World has ever charged.

Plan carefully, arrive early, and make the most of every magical moment — even during one of the busiest weeks of the year!
