Curious about Disney's upcoming Lakeshore Lodge? You'll want to admire it from afar — literally. A no-trespassing sign has been installed on the roadway that will eventually lead to the new resort, and the language on it leaves absolutely no wiggle room. Even though Lakeshore Lodge is still years away from welcoming its first guests, Disney is already making it unmistakably clear that this construction zone is off limits.
What the Sign Actually Says
The discovery was shared by Shaun Ranks WDW This Week on X, who posted a photo of the sign along with the caption: "The future road to Disney's Lakeshore Lodge — pretty strong wording to keep guests away for now."

The sign itself is direct and unambiguous: "No Trespassing. This area is a designated construction site, and anyone who trespasses on this property commits a felony." Because Walt Disney World operates as private property, Disney has the legal ability to call authorities on anyone who enters the area without permission, or to remove and ban guests from the resort entirely. Until Disney officially opens access, guests should steer clear of the vicinity altogether.
Where Lakeshore Lodge Is Being Built
Disney's Lakeshore Lodge is being constructed on the shores of Bay Lake, positioned directly between Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The site carries a bit of history — it sits on the former grounds of Disney's River Country, the resort's original water park that closed permanently years ago. Building a brand-new resort on that footprint gives the area a genuinely fresh purpose after sitting dormant for a long stretch.
What to Expect When the Resort Opens
Disney's Lakeshore Lodge is set to open July 1, 2027, with 967 rooms spanning a wide range of accommodation styles. Each room type draws inspiration from classic Disney animated films, paired with natural materials and earthy color palettes meant to reflect the resort's outdoor setting along Bay Lake.
Here's a look at what's planned across the different room categories:
- Waterfront Lake Houses — The most unique offering at the resort, these freestanding one- and two-bedroom retreats feature dramatic A-frame architecture and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water. They sleep up to five or eight guests depending on size, and each includes a private porch, full kitchen, and washer and dryer. The interior artwork celebrates Brother Bear, incorporating the film's Alaskan setting, with a Northern Lights–inspired lighting feature adding a striking touch to the primary bedroom after dark.
- Duo Studios — Themed to the colorful spirit of Encanto, these offer a cozy option for two guests.
- Deluxe Studios and One- or Two-Bedroom Villas — Drawing from Bambi, these bring woodland charm through natural materials and archival concept artwork. Villas sleep up to five or nine guests depending on configuration.
- Three-Bedroom Grand Villas — Inspired by Fantasia and designed for multigenerational families, these sleep up to 12 guests across multiple bathrooms and generous gathering spaces.
- Resort Studios and Resort Studio King Rooms — Themed to Pocahontas, featuring earthy tones and artwork reflecting the film's sweeping landscapes.
Guests staying in select club level rooms will have access to The Artist's Nest, a concierge lounge positioned above the treetops offering complimentary refreshments and views of Magic Kingdom fireworks. For the most elevated experience, the Hidden Willow Presidential Suite offers two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a full kitchen, and access to The Artist's Nest, along with daytime views of Bay Lake and nighttime fireworks views.
How Booking Will Work
Reservations for Lakeshore Lodge will open in phases starting in October:
- October 6 — Disney Vacation Club members can make early rental reservations by contacting Member Services directly.
- October 7 — Walt Disney World Annual Passholders get their own early booking window.
- October 8 — All guests can book online or by phone, opening reservations to the general public.
Planning Ahead
If Lakeshore Lodge is on your radar for a future Disney vacation, that booking timeline is worth marking on your calendar now — especially given the level of interest a brand-new waterfront resort like this is likely to generate. In the meantime, guests visiting Walt Disney World should simply avoid the construction area entirely, both for their own safety and to steer clear of any legal complications tied to trespassing on an active construction site.
