As 50 students from the Central Florida area made their way down a purple carpet lined with community leaders and Disney VoluntEARS, the excitement on their faces said it all. It was more than a celebration. It was the official start of the next chapter of Disney Dreamers Academy.
What Is Disney Dreamers Academy?
Launched in 2008, Disney Dreamers Academy (DDA) is a program dedicated to giving young people the opportunity to learn how they can harness the power of their dreams. In the nearly two decades since its founding, DDA has helped more than 1,800 students across the country build careers, lead communities, and mentor the next generation of Disney Dreamers.
One of the most meaningful things about Disney Dreamers Academy is how the experience helps a young person imagine new possibilities for their future — and now, the program is finding ways to bring that opportunity to even more students.
A Look Inside This Next Chapter
This year, Disney Dreamers Academy is expanding through a new collaboration with Boys & Girls Clubs — a partnership designed to reach more students earlier in their journey and keep them connected to the program longer. 200 middle school Club members from Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, and Houston will become the first Disney Dreamers to take part in this year-round, multi-year pilot program.
By working with Boys & Girls Clubs, Disney is able to meet students where they are, providing meaningful experiences — a mix of virtual and in-person moments both in students' home communities and at Disney — that support their growth over time.
Throughout the program, students will discover more about themselves, build new skills and confidence, explore different careers, meet inspiring people, and experience Disney magic along the way — including a visit to Walt Disney World.
Four Cities, One Dream
As the program travels to all four locations, every Disney Dreamer will be invited to a kickoff celebration filled with Disney-inspired activity stations designed to reflect the theme parks at Walt Disney World. Each park-themed area includes activities that encourage students to discover new interests, express their creativity, connect with fellow Dreamers, and meet some of their favorite Disney pals.
Orlando Disney Dreamers Kick Off the Celebrations
The festivities began at the Walt Disney World Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, where the evening was filled with endless joy — from students finding their Disney Dreamer Anthem to personalizing their very own pair of Mickey ears. Laughter echoed through the gymnasium all night long.
