Disney has confirmed that the bar and shop at Disney Sequoia Lodge Hotel will close from February 19, 2027, as part of the property's ongoing refurbishment. The Redwood Bar and Lounge and Northwest Passage are both affected, along with some additional hotel services that Disney has described only vaguely. The good news? Character meet and greets will continue as planned, and the closures are expected to be temporary β though Disney has not confirmed how long they will last or whether both venues will reopen at the same time.

A Hotel in Need of a Fresh Start
Disney Sequoia Lodge has long been one of the more criticized hotels in the Disney portfolio. Guests have frequently pointed to old-fashioned, dusty rooms and outdated bathrooms as key pain points. With a 2.8-star rating on Yelp, it ranks among the lowest-rated Disney hotels in the world β performing worse even than cheaper Disneyland Paris options like Disney Santa Fe Hotel.
But a major transformation is well underway. Disney is giving the 1,010-room property brighter, more contemporary interiors while preserving the warm, wood-heavy wilderness-lodge atmosphere that has defined it since 1992. Every major guest area is eventually set to be redesigned.
What the Refurbishment Looks Like
Work began in January 2026, starting with rooms across Sequoia Lodge's five outer buildings. The first redesigned rooms β inspired by Bambi (1942), Pocahontas (1995), and Brave (2012) β are set to welcome guests in early 2027. From there, the refurbishment will expand to the remaining rooms, lobby, restaurants, recreation areas, and shops.
This week, Disney also confirmed that bookings for the updated rooms will open in mid-September 2026. A first look at the refreshed accommodation has already been shared, revealing a notable change: the bathtubs β a long-standing staple of Disneyland Paris hotel rooms β have been removed from the bathrooms.
Fan reaction has been largely positive. One X user wrote, "It appears they have not ruined the nature look and feel! Thank god! Not too much gold or bronze!" Another simply said, "Finally no more old ass bath tub."
Wider Updates Across Disney Resorts
Sequoia Lodge isn't the only Disney property in the middle of a makeover right now. At Walt Disney World Resort, guest rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House are being refurbished through January 2027, while phased work across the Contemporary Resort's atrium, Main Tower, and Bay Lake Tower will continue through late 2027. At Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, the front entrance roadway is under construction, and Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace is also facing disruption due to refurbishment at the Grand Ceremonial House.
Back at Disneyland Paris, an update to the PathΓ© Cinema in Disney Village was also announced this week. The movie theater will undergo an extensive transformation β including a brand-new exterior β with work set to begin this summer. This follows the debut of Disney Adventure World in March, which replaced Walt Disney Studios Park and introduced World of Frozen, a ride inspired by Tangled (2010), and new dining options.
