On July 14, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay shared the news on its official Instagram page, confirming that Kumba would "take its final roar" on August 2. Debuting in 1993, Kumba made history as Florida's tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster when it opened, and it featured seven exhilarating inversions along with its signature roar sound. Alongside the closure notice, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay revealed that Kumba will be replaced by a brand-new roller coaster called Kumba's Revenge. The new ride is part of a $100 million investment by United Parks & Resorts, which aims to position Busch Gardens Tampa Bay as Florida's thrill leader. As of now, the park has not announced an opening date for Kumba's Revenge, nor has it shared additional details about the new coaster.
