Heads up, Disney fans: if a visit to the Broken Spell Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel is on your fall itinerary, you'll want to adjust your plans. The Sleeping Beauty-inspired lounge is currently closed for refurbishment, and Disney has not yet announced when it will reopen.
What Disney Has Confirmed — and What It Hasn't
Disney's official dining page for Broken Spell Lounge marks the venue as closed and directs guests to check back for updates, but it does not publish a reopening date. Third-party operating calendars currently show the closure extending at least through October 23, though Disney itself has not confirmed any specific return date. For guests planning fall visits, the safest approach is to assume the lounge remains unavailable until Disney posts an updated operating schedule.
The Timing: Right in the Middle of Halloween Time
The refurbishment lands squarely during one of Disneyland Resort's busiest seasonal windows. Disney's official 2026 Halloween calendar runs Halloween Time from August 21 through October 31, while Oogie Boogie Bash takes place on select nights from August 18 through Halloween. Demand has been intense — all standard 2026 Oogie Boogie Bash dates sold out by September 9, and Disneyland Park reservations reached capacity on Halloween Time's August 21 opening day.
That makes the lounge closure more noticeable than it might be during a quieter stretch. It's worth noting, however, that Broken Spell Lounge is not inside Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park, so its closure does not remove a park attraction or an Oogie Boogie Bash offering. It does reduce the evening dining and drinking options available at the Disneyland Hotel for guests looking to extend their night outside the park gates.
A Relatively New Spot Already Going Under Refurbishment
Broken Spell Lounge debuted in October 2024, transforming the former lobby lounge space near the long-closed Steakhouse 55. Disney leaned into a dark, enchanted-forest aesthetic inspired by Sleeping Beauty, rather than treating the space as a generic hotel bar. Its menu includes specialty cocktails, wine, small bites, entrées, and desserts — making it a popular stop both before dinner and for a late-night drink.
That means the refurbishment is arriving less than two years after the Broken Spell identity debuted. Disney has not publicly detailed what is being changed, so there is currently no verified basis to describe the project as a retheme, menu overhaul, expansion, or major redesign.
Magic Key Holders: The Hotel Itself Is Still Open
It's important to draw a clear line here: one lounge being temporarily unavailable is not the same as Disney restricting access to the Disneyland Hotel. Disney has announced no resort-wide Magic Key lockout tied to this refurbishment. In fact, Disney's current Magic Key discount page still lists Broken Spell Lounge among participating dining locations — it simply cannot be used while it is closed. Magic Key holders and all other guests can still visit the hotel itself.
Other Dining Options Remain at the Disneyland Hotel
Guests heading to the Disneyland Hotel are not without evening food-and-beverage choices. Disney's official hotel dining directory continues to list the following options alongside Broken Spell Lounge:
- Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar
- Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill
- Palm Breeze Bar
- Goofy's Kitchen
- The Coffee House
- In-room dining
It's also worth noting that Trader Sam's underwent its own refurbishment earlier in 2026, temporarily taking its indoor experience offline. The Broken Spell closure is a separate situation, and guests should check Disney's current operating information before building an itinerary around either location.
Beyond the hotel, Halloween offerings continue across the resort. Disney has seasonal character dining at Goofy's Kitchen through October 31, and the parks remain full of Halloween entertainment, attraction overlays, food, and décor.
Planning Ahead for Your Fall Visit
For now, the most important planning detail is also the least satisfying: Disney has confirmed the closure but not a reopening date. The official Broken Spell Lounge page states only that the venue is currently closed for refurbishment and asks guests to check back for updates. Public operating calendars show the lounge unavailable through at least October 23, but no specific return date has been officially established.
If you're visiting during Halloween Time, plan around Broken Spell Lounge rather than counting on it being available during your trip. Once Disney restores operating hours or announces a return date, that will be the first firm sign that the spell is ready to be cast once more.
