Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is growing — and we mean that quite literally. The land is set to nearly double in size with the addition of two new attractions, Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, along with a new bathroom facility. A recent visit to several vantage points around the park gave us a closer look at how construction is progressing.
A Bird's-Eye View from Pixar Pal-A-Round
From the gondolas of Pixar Pal-A-Round, the scale of the expansion becomes clear. The large structure rising behind Cars Land is the heart of the new development, and the entrance canopy — visible beneath a tall crane — is already taking form.
Stark Flight Lab Takes Shape
Several construction vehicles are gathered beneath that canopy at the future site of Stark Flight Lab. The attraction will seat guests in gyro-kinetic pods controlled by a robotic arm inspired by DUM-E from the Iron Man films, and Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark for the experience.
Up on the rooftop, crew members were spotted working beneath a tent, likely attending to various roof elements. A series of white beams that match the entrance canopy are visible on the left side of the roof, while steel frames on the right appear to be the beginnings of future themed elements.
Avengers Infinity Defense Gets Its Shell
The show building for Avengers Infinity Defense is now mostly enclosed, though it hasn't received its final exterior paneling yet. Black scrims wrap much of the upper half of the building. The attraction is expected to use the same ride system as Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure at Tokyo DisneySea.
A view from the SpringHill Suites area reveals the other side of the building, also draped in black scrims — though some intriguing shapes that could be thematic elements are faintly visible behind the fabric.
A New Restroom Facility with a Dual-Land Flair
Back at the Pixar Pal-A-Round vantage point, a concrete structure is visible in front of Avengers Headquarters. This is believed to be a new bathroom facility positioned on the walkway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land. Because it will serve guests from both areas, it features some Cars Land theming — a thoughtful touch.
The Entrance Canopy Comes Together
On the ground inside Avengers Campus, crew members are actively working on the left side of the expansion's entrance canopy — the spot where the Avengers Infinity Defense sign will eventually be installed. Both new rides will be accessible next to the Avengers Headquarters building.
The Avengers Campus expansion is clearly moving forward at a steady pace. Are you excited to see what's coming? Let us know on social media!
