Designed by Walt Disney Imagineers, the community is expected to welcome its first residents as soon as 2028.
What Is Asteria?
Asteria is the second Storyliving by Disney community — the first being Cotino, located in Rancho Mirage, California, where model homes are already on display for prospective residents. Asteria takes its name from both the native North Carolina aster flower and the Greek goddess of the same name, and it will be situated in Pittsboro, North Carolina, near the Raleigh area.
Disney first shared major details about Asteria back in April, including information about the Second Star Club — described as the "social heart" of the community, inspired by Peter Pan (1953). This gathering space is designed to be the hub of creativity and wellness for residents, offering everything from morning yoga under the Carolina sky to learning from a Disney expert, making new friends on the tennis court, or cheering on their favorite teams at the community's signature restaurant, Marquet Hall.
A First Look at the Entryway
The August 5 update from Disney focused largely on Asteria's entryway, which has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the natural beauty and character of the surrounding region. The entrance will blend with the local topography, constructed using an intentional dry-stacking method with materials sourced directly from the site — including metavolcanic rock, quartz, and rhyolite. The centerpiece of the entryway is a stunning moon gate that will welcome guests and residents as they arrive.
