Fresh aerial shots over Epic Universe show that construction is officially underway on a brand-new attraction in the Dark Universe land — the first to break ground since the park opened in May 2025.

Digging In: What the Aerials Show

Excavation work has begun just behind the Monsters Unchained show building, and the aerial photos — captured by @bioreconstruct — give us a solid look at the early stages of construction. To the side of the show building, steel can be spotted staged near a corner, and work on a retaining wall also appears to be getting started. A yellow crane on site will be used for building foundation piles.

As a fun bonus detail spotted in one of the aerials: the Burning Blade Tavern can be seen doing what it does best — ablaze in the lower right corner of the frame.

What Could It Be?

Speculation is already heating up. Back in August, Universal was awarded a patent for a potential new water ride system featuring self-propelled vehicles, which has fueled rumors that the new attraction could be themed around Creature from the Black Lagoon. That said, nothing concrete is known at this point — it's all speculation for now.
