Great news for fans of Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress — a beloved voice from the attraction's previous version is coming back, just in a different seat at the family table!

A Familiar Face (and Voice) Returns

Walt Disney Imagineering recently shared an exciting update on social media, confirming that voice actress Debi Derryberry will return to the reimagined Carousel of Progress in a new role. Derryberry previously voiced Patricia (Daughter) in the version of the attraction that debuted in 1993. When the updated show opens next year at Walt Disney World, she'll be stepping into the role of Grandmother.

The Carousel of Progress Reimagining

The Carousel of Progress is currently closed for what's being described as its biggest reimagining ever, with a planned reopening in late spring 2027. The updated attraction will shift its setting to the latter half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.

Since its debut at the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair, the Carousel of Progress has guided guests through the history of the American family, traditionally beginning around the turn of the century. The first three scenes have always been set in the early 1900s, the 1920s, and the 1940s. The new iteration will instead feature scenes set in 1969, 1985, 1999, and the distant future.

It was also revealed last month that Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston will voice Mother and Father, respectively, in the reimagined show.
